The Second Stub

Three months after the silo did not blow. Flynne Fisher wakes not in Clanton but in the secondary stub she cut — same kitchen, same porch, but the calendar reads 2033 and Ella still has 23 days. In this branch, no one from 2099 has a coordinate. The brown watch portal is smashed on a research institute floor in future London, tree dark. Lowbeer sits across from Flynne's peripheral in a White Chapel safehouse and says: "We are both now trespassers."

The Price

The data is still inside her. Headaches return — sharper. Ossian warns that bacterial DNA not meant for a non-haptic host will degenerate the carrier. Burton, whose haptics were designed for it, offers his implants as a vessel, but Flynne refuses to pass the burden. Instead she goes to Aelita, who now leads Neoprims hiding in the Forest — the same forest where Wilf once ran as a child. Aelita shows her the word Gibson always planned for Season 2: the Jackpot is not one event but a slow cascade, and the silo is only one branch. "You saved Clanton by dying," Aelita says. "Now you must save the future by living."

The Caution

In 2099, the Met, Klept and Research Institute meet under truce. Lev, ordered to kill Wilf, hesitates — Wilf once saved his sister. Cherise, told by Ash that Flynne is dead, learns from a peripheral trace that a second stub was opened. She dispatches peripherals to hunt the new coordinates, but the stub has no beacon. Inspector Lowbeer trades: she gives Cherise the location of Aelita's army in exchange for Cherise standing down on Clanton — a lie to buy weeks. Burton and Conner, using the same haptics that once made them soldiers, train Clanton's 2033 residents to see the Jackpot's early signs: the soybean blight, the antibiotic failure, the water privatization — all Gibson's background LEGOs that Smith could not afford in Season 1.

The Work

Flynne chooses not to be a bridge but a dam. In the new stub, she lets Ash extract a copy of the neural implant design and gives it not to Lev or Neoprims but to Lowbeer, with a condition: open-source it. If everyone has the map of behavioural control, no one can monopolize it. Lowbeer, who once wanted to navigate the storm for the Met, agrees to flood the network. In Clanton, Tommy Constantine, who killed Sheriff Jackman to save the Fishers, is sworn in as sheriff and uses his badge to protect the stub's first clinic where Tommy's mother Ella receives future-derived palliative care — the medicine Lowbeer said could not be made now is now made in the secondary stub's labs.

The Last Walk

Flynne walks with Wilf through the 2099 Thames where Aelita's army waits. They do not kiss. They link peripherals palm to palm as they once did through haptics, and Flynne finally lets Wilf see her fear: that by saving one town she has condemned another timeline to wait. Wilf answers: "Every stub is equally viable. That's why Gibson nailed it." Far behind them, Corbell Pickett, comatose after Jasper's train-track murder attempt, flatlines — Clanton's old drug order dies with the Jackpot's first silo threat. Flynne looks at the river and asks Lowbeer: "Do we get to work?" Lowbeer smiles. "We already are."

This is not an official ending. It is a fan-written imagining of how The Peripheral could have concluded.
