Warrior Nun Ending Explained: Why Ava Had to Leave Through the Arc

She killed the false angel, survived the bomb, then chose the other realm — the sacrifice and the holy-war setup.

The Crown of Thorns and Reya

Adriel, freed from the Vatican tomb, builds the Firstborn Children cult, stealing prayer through a cross to power his Arc — a portal to drag Reya (Andrea Tivadar), his former master and the entity he fears most, to Earth to imprison her. Ava steals the Crown of Thorns from the Prado, dons it and enters Reya's realm. Reya convinces her to help Michael (Jack Mullarkey), who carries a Divinium bomb in his chest, detonate it to destroy Adriel even though it means both their deaths. Ava hides the Arc's true location — instructing Jillian to lie — kisses Beatrice goodbye and commits to a suicide mission she tells no one fully. According to ScreenRant, this completes Ava's turn from selfish second-chance survival in Season 1 to self-sacrifice.

The Bomb That Failed

The Order raids Adriel's cathedral. Father Vincent (Tristan Ulloa), turned back to the OCS, helps Sister Camila (Olivia Delcan) destroy Adriel's cross, unblocking the Halo.
